Some long overdue behind the scenes of our Tropfest 2026 entry, 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘎𝘰. Thank you to everyone who trusted me, volunteered their time, and helped bring this project to life. As this was the first film for many of us out of uni, and our first time submitting to a short film competition, we were absolutely over the moon to be shortlisted. BTS of a recent horror short film I worked on; Scopophobia.

For this short film, I chose to expand my skills by taking on the roles of Costume Designer and SFX Makeup Artist instead of directing. Designing costumes that felt realistic and seamlessly blended with the world we created was both exciting and rewarding. I also got to apply special effects makeup, including gash wounds and fake blood, and cutting costumes to mimic claw marks from the monster, allowing me to explore my creativity in new ways. Contributing to the film’s overall look and feel made me realise just how much I love being part of the filmmaking process.

BTS of a recent horror short film I worked on; Scopophobia.

For this short film, I chose to expand my skills by taking on the roles of Costume Designer and SFX Makeup Artist instead of directing. Designing costumes that felt realistic and seamlessly blended with the world we created was both exciting and rewarding. I also got to apply special effects makeup, including gash wounds and fake blood, and cutting costumes to mimic claw marks from the monster, allowing me to explore my creativity in new ways. Contributing to the film’s overall look and feel made me realise just how much I love being part of the filmmaking process.
